UHSTCA Athletes of the Week

After a week of vigorous competition throughout the state we have our large and small division track and field athletes of the week.
Ashleigh Warner of Mountain View High School ran an impressive 5:01.81 for the 1600m, winning the Mount Timpanogos Invitational track meet. Ashleigh was second at the state cross country meet this year and plans on continuing her dominance on the track.
Cale Strong of Wasatch High School finished first in the 110 Hurdles with a time of 14.79 seconds. His remarkable mark helped the Wasatch Wasps win the Pine View Invitational.

- Large School Female Track Athlete of the Week: Ashleigh Warner Sr. Mountain View
Ashleigh Warner of Mountain View High School ran an impressive 5:01.81 for the 1600m, winning the Mount Timpanogos Invitational track meet. Ashleigh was second at the state cross country meet this year and plans on continuing her dominance on the track.
- Large School Male Track Athlete of the Week: Cale Strong Sr. Wasatch High
Cale Strong of Wasatch High School finished first in the 110 Hurdles with a time of 14.79 seconds. His remarkable mark helped the Wasatch Wasps win the Pine View Invitational.
- Large School Female Field Athlete of the Week: Megan Glasmann Jr. Park City
Megan Glasmann, a junior from Park City High School, won 1st place in the Javelin Throw at the Pine View Invitational with a distance of 133 feet 1 inch giving her the highest mark of the season.
- Large School Male Field Athlete of the Week: Grant Evans Sr. Springville
Grant Evans won the Pine View Invitational shot put title by throwing 50’ 6.5” beating second place by over two feet. Grant was third at the state championships last year and is having a great start to this season.
- Small School Female Track Athlete of the Week: Samantha Nicholes Fr. North Summit High School
Samantha Nicholes competed at the Matt Burr Invitational last week and finished the 100 meter Dash winning it with a 13.02 and ranking her top 10 in all divisions.
- Small School Male Track Athlete of the Week: Sage Palmer Jr. Enterprise High School
Sage Palmer ran the 200 meter at the Pine View Invitational with an excellent mark of 22.81 which gave him the top performance of all small school track athletes. He finished 6th place overall.
- Small School Female Field Athlete of the Week: Chennin Benson Jr. Parowan
Chennin Benson competed at the Pine View Invitational in the High Jump and jumped at a remarkable height of 5 feet 5 inches, which puts her tied for the top mark of the season in all divisions in this event.
- Small School Male Field Athlete of the Week: Mauricio Hernandez So. Milford High School
Mauricio competed at the Matt Burr invitational in the Javelin and threw a mark of 175 feet 6 inches which won him first place at the meet and put him at the second highest mark for the season in the Javelin in all divisions.
